The Vernal City Council will hold a public hearing on September 2, 2026, to discuss the issuance of water and sewer revenue bonds, according to a notice published August 20.
The proposed bonds, which may not exceed $2,000,000, are intended to finance improvements to the city's water and sewer system. These project costs include the installation of PVC and HDPE water lines, water service connections, tie-ins, PVC sewer lines, manholes, and bypass pumping equipment. The city also intends to use the funds to cover costs related to the issuance and sale of the bonds.
According to the notice, the city will not pledge any taxes for the payment of these bonds. Instead, the bonds will be paid using revenues attributable to the system under a Master Indenture. The hearing will also address the potential economic impact the project may have on the private sector, pursuant to Utah Code Annotated 1953.
The hearing is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m. at the Council's regular meeting place located at 374 East Main Street in Vernal, Utah. The meeting is expected to conclude by 8:00 p.m. All members of the public are invited to attend and participate. Written comments may be submitted to the City Recorder prior to the hearing.
