A student dislocated his knee while playing volleyball at Heritage Halls. The student reset his knee before BYU medical staff arrived. A woman spilled boiling water on her foot in the MTC cafeteria. The woman was taken to the hospital by her mother.A student was stung by a bee behind the Hinckley Center. An officer responded to the call and ensured the woman was evaluated by BYU EMS. Medical personnel cleared the student.Accidents
BYU Police and Provo Paramedics responded to a crash involving a scooter and a car. The scooter rider suffered several injuries and was transported to the hospital.Traffic Violations
An officer attempted to stop a man riding his skateboard during a class break. The man ran but was later identified and cited for the violation. Officers may pursue criminal charges for failing to stop for an officer.Suspicious
An officer stopped a man for a traffic violation and asked him for identification. The man provided the officer with a photo of a BYU student ID card. The officer discovered the card belonged to someone else and the man had replaced the original photo with his own.A tenant of Wyview Park found his electric scooter lying in the grass near his apartment after locking it up the night before. The responding officer determined that someone had tried to steal the scooter but left it behind after they were unable to start it.Officers received a report of a suspicious man wearing a black hoodie and some sort of white face covering. An officer checked the reported area but was unable to find the man.A suspicious person was seen hiding behind vehicles near the Smith Fieldhouse. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the individual.Two women filed a suspicious person report after a man driving a blue truck asked them if they had a car. The women quickly left the area because they were concerned by the man’s questions and demeanor. Officers reviewed security footage from the parking lot to identify the man.A man tried gaining access to the Kimball Tower’s radio tower and made students uncomfortable. The man was unable to give a good reason for being on campus. BYU police issued him a 10-day trespass, and a permanent ban may be requested.Citizen Assist
An individual's car stalled in traffic. Officers helped the driver jump-start the car and escorted them back to their house.Fraud
A student bought a ticket to an event advertised on Instagram called “BYU Weekend Bash.” The student never received details for the event and reported the ticket sale as fraudulent. Officers opened an investigation.Animal Report
BYU Police received a report of an injured deer near the Richards Building. Officers found the deer with an injured leg and three fawns. The deer was otherwise healthy and mobile. Officers cleared the area and reported the situation to the Division of Natural Resources.
