All Central Bulky Waste Public Drop-Off events have been closed or cancelled, according to a notice on the Wasatch Front Waste & Recycling District website. The district cancelled previously planned events for Millcreek, Holladay, and Murray due to a lack of participation.
The cancellation of these events allows the Wasatch Front Waste & Recycling District to focus additional resources on filling container waitlist requests and container deliveries. While the public drop-off events have concluded, eligible customers receiving district services may still use an annual Digital Landfill Voucher to dispose of approved household waste at participating landfills.
The digital voucher program requires residents to verify property information and confirm that their vehicle, load, and materials meet specific requirements. One voucher is available per eligible property each year, subject to program restrictions.
The Central Public Drop-Off program was designed for large household materials, such as furniture, mattresses, and non-freon appliances. Prohibited items for these events included tires, hazardous waste, ammunition, firearms, explosives, and bagged trash or construction materials like dirt, concrete, or shingles.
The district noted that the public drop-off appointment windows were previously limited to 10 appointments per hour and required address verification for eligibility.
