The Brian Head Town Council held a regular meeting on July 28, 2026, to discuss community events and municipal projects. During the session, officials reviewed the outcomes of the recent Brian Head Day and addressed a contract change order for the Shuttle Stop Project.
Town Clerk Nancy Leigh reported that the first annual Brian Head Day, held the previous Friday and Saturday, was a success with an estimated attendance of approximately 3,000 people. Council Member Nyen noted that the Brian Head Firefighters Association served over 350 people at its Saturday picnic, exceeding the anticipated 150 to 200 attendees. Additionally, Administrative Services Director Shane Williamson noted that the Total Archery Challenge (TAC) saw approximately 4,200 participants register for the event.
The Council voted 5-0 to authorize a decrease in the existing contract with Larry Pendleton Building, LLC for the Shuttle Stops Crosswalk Project. The change order, totaling a net decrease of $112,619, includes modifications such as the removal of heated concrete from a ramp and the replacement of a concrete sidewalk at the Giant Steps stop with asphalt. The Council also reviewed a follow-up report regarding the Missing Citizen’s Voice Committee. To improve communication, the Council agreed to have the Mayor subscribed to all 3-1-1 notifications.
Looking toward future meetings, the Town Clerk noted that discussions regarding Land Management Code amendments for fencing and a mixed-use ordinance are anticipated for Aug. 11, 2026, pending Planning Commission action. Planning for next year's Brian Head Day events is also expected to be discussed in August.
