Forecasts for the region indicated intense heat through the week. High temperatures were projected to hit 105 degrees in the afternoon, with lows around 80 degrees. Temperatures were expected to reach 108 degrees on both Wednesday and Thursday, while Friday was forecasted to see a high of 106 degrees. By Saturday, highs were expected to decrease to 103 degrees, and Sunday was projected to reach 100 degrees.
The weather pattern included a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms starting Saturday night and continuing through Monday. Conditions in the Saint George area were described as mostly sunny and hot during the peak afternoon hours.
In other regions, thunderstorms were expected to impact areas of the Plains into the Midwest, potentially causing locally heavy rainfall and isolated instances of flash flooding. Summer heat also continued for the southern Plains and the Southwest into southern California.
