Desert Hills High School's boys golf team secured its second consecutive Region 9 victory at Green Spring Golf Course in Washington City. The Thunder finished with an 11-over-par score of 299, narrowly defeating Dixie High School, who finished one stroke back with a score of 300.
Seniors Hayden Quertimont and Chase Leavitt led Desert Hills, both posting an even-par 72 to tie for the best individual scores of the match. Desert Hills head coach Marco Leoni stated that it was the first time either player had finished as the match's leading medalist. Leoni noted that the team faced some wind during the match, which contributed to higher scores than normal for the course.
The Region 9 boys golf standings for the match at Green Spring included Crimson Cliffs with a score of 305, Hurricane with 319, Snow Canyon with 320, Pine View with 328, and Cedar with 336.
The next Region 9 match was scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 24, at Sky Mountain Golf Course in Hurricane.
