The Murray Parent Teacher Association is hosting a large Meet the Candidates event to connect voters with local schools and representatives. The open house is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 19, 2026, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Murray High School Commons.
The event is designed as an informal, face-to-face gathering without formal speeches or party-line rallies. Over 20 candidates from various political parties representing Murray residents have been invited, including those for U.S. House District 1, Salt Lake County positions, state offices, and local school board seats. Attendees will also have the opportunity to learn about ballot measures appearing on this year's ballot.
Community members are encouraged to attend, and children are welcome at the event. The Murray High School Commons is located at 5440 S. State Street, with parking suggested on the south side for best access.
The PTA noted that such events allow voters to engage directly with decision-makers regarding school budgets, district resources, and community safety. Research cited by the organization indicates that active parent involvement through the PTA correlates with higher academic achievement and improved school climate.
