The annual Fall in Love with Local and 9/11 Tribute event took place on September 10 at Millcreek Common. Hosted by the Millcreek Business Council, the free, family-friendly event showcased more than 25 Millcreek businesses and included a ceremony to honor first responders.
The evening featured a special patriotic component with a 9/11 Tribute and First Responders Award Ceremony. Starting at 7 p.m., Millcreek honored Sergeant Prescott and Officer Walser of the Unified Police Department, as well as Captain Stevens and Engineer Koetiz of the Unified Fire Authority.
Scheduled activities during the event included a flag ceremony and performances by the Salt Lake City Ballet, the Churchill Junior High Band, and the Millcreek Skate Legends. Visitors had access to free ice cream from the Unified Police Department, roller skating, and a climbing wall.
From 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., attendees participated in a community service project to assemble First Mom Kits for community members in need. This project was a partnership between Millcreek Promise and the Interfaith Council.
Participating businesses used the market to connect with the community, offering giveaways and promoting available job opportunities. Neko's Collectibles was named the September Business of the Month, recognized for supporting the Utah Schools for the Deaf and the Blind and Primary Children’s Hospital.
