Centennial Middle School has announced several key updates for families ahead of the 2026–2027 school year. A Back-to-School Event is scheduled for Monday, August 17, from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at the school, offering an open-house style opportunity for families to tour the campus, meet teachers, and join the PTA.
The event will also serve as a time for parents to update information in PowerSchool, print student schedules, schedule meetings with counselors, and pay school fees. To increase efficiency, officials encourage families to complete PowerSchool updates and fee payments before attending.
First Day and Schedule Rotation
The first day of school is set for Wednesday, August 19, following an A Day schedule as part of the A/B rotation. This alignment follows the Provo City School District calendar to assist families with students in both middle and high schools.
New Technology Usage Guidelines
Regarding technology, the school noted that new guidance on student access to one-to-one devices like Chromebooks has been issued following the passage of House Bill 2/73: Classroom Technology Amendments. The district and Board of Education are currently reviewing this legislation to develop implementation plans for middle school students.
Course Availability and Scheduling Conflicts
The school's master schedule for the upcoming year is finalized, though some course requests could not be accommodated due to insufficient enrollment or scheduling conflicts between singleton courses. For example, Chinese 1 will not be offered because it received approximately ten student requests. Students affected by these conflicts may schedule appointments with a counselor once schedules are available.
PowerSchool Access and Outage Info
Parents should note that student schedules will be viewable in PowerSchool starting August 12. Additionally, a planned PowerSchool outage is expected from July 1 through July 15, during which services may be unavailable.
Fees, Meals, and Safety Reminders
Other important reminders include the availability of the 2026–2027 fee schedule and upcoming applications for fee waivers and free or reduced-price meals. The school nurse, Carol Simmonds, also shared a safety resource regarding electric mobility vehicles from Intermountain Children’s Health.
