The Provo City Library has introduced the ProvoREADS theme for September, titled Discover Your Reading Path, according to a September 10 statement. The initiative encourages students to explore books, topics, and stories that spark curiosity to foster a lifelong interest in reading.
The September Family Reading Challenge encourages families to visit school or public libraries together. Suggested activities for families include browsing new sections, asking librarians for recommendations, trying new genres or authors, and obtaining library cards to make reading a regular activity.
This month's theme emphasizes that children benefit from having the freedom to choose books they enjoy, which can transform reading from a school assignment into an activity they look forward to.
The reading activities will continue into October with the Utah Reads Statewide Read-A-Thon. Scheduled for Friday, Oct. 2, 2026, the event features Governor Spencer Cox and First Lady Abby Cox. Provo City School District students and employees are set to participate from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. as part of the hour dedicated to literacy across Utah.
