Spring Creek Elementary is preparing for several significant events, including a public meeting hosted by the Provo City School Board to discuss potential school closures and boundary changes.
The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, April 22, at 6:00 PM at Spring Creek Elementary. Officials noted that this session provides an opportunity for community members to ask questions, share concerns, and provide feedback, as decisions have not yet been finalized.
In addition to the boundary discussions, the school has several upcoming academic and community milestones. State testing is set to begin next week, an event Principal Jay Porter noted as being important for making decisions regarding student support.
Other scheduled items include a School Community Council meeting on Friday, April 24, at 12:15 PM to discuss the school improvement plan. Additionally, kindergarten students are scheduled for a field trip to the Loveland Aquarium on Tuesday, April 21, from 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM.
Community council elections are also expected to take place within the next few weeks. Looking further ahead, class lists will be created in mid-May, with more information being distributed at the start of that month.
The school recently completed a week focused on SOAR attributes, which includes showing kindness, owning learning and actions, acting safely, and respecting oneself and others. This week's activities were organized by the SOAR squad and social worker Mr. Parks.
Separately, a community track meet for 3 to 14 year olds will take place at Provo High School on Monday, April 20. On-site registration for the event begins at 4:15 PM with a start time of 5:00 PM. The cost is $10 per athlete.
