South Ogden City Council members met on July 7, 2026, to conduct official business following a social tree planting ceremony held near the Veteran’s Memorial. The ceremony, held in recognition of South Ogden’s 90th Birthday, replaced the regularly scheduled work session.
During the meeting, the Council voted unanimously to adopt Resolution 26-19. This resolution approved an agreement with Siddons-Martin for the purchase of an ambulance, following an address by Fire Chief Cameron West.
Finance Director Peter Anjewierden presented the proposed FY2027 budget, noting that the plan included a property tax increase. Anjewierden reviewed the proposed tax schedule, outlining the projected revenue generation and the intended use for the increased funds. A public hearing regarding the proposed tax increase was scheduled for August 4, 2026, at City Hall.
Council members also directed staff to add specific one-time costs to the FY2027 budget for further consideration.
City Manager Matthew Dixon reviewed the current city annexation policy and informed the Council that the policy requires updating. Mayor Russell Porter stated that the city is required to have an annexation policy and noted that properties would only be annexed if owners requested it and if the city determined annexation was in its best interest.
In public comment, Rod Nelson inquired about construction on Adams Ave and whether a rezone would affect his property. Public Works Director Jon Andersen provided a response to these questions.
The meeting concluded with various reports from Council members and the City Manager. The session adjourned at 7:19 pm following a unanimous vote.
