The South Ogden City Council approved Resolution 26-20 during a meeting on July 21, 2026, which establishes an agreement with the Weber School District for a School Resource Officer. The meeting, which included a work session, addressed various municipal matters including affordable housing initiatives and budget updates.
During the work session, Andi Beadles presented information regarding an affordable housing project for individuals experiencing homelessness that the Weber Housing Authority intends to develop in South Ogden City. The authority requested to be placed on the council agenda to pass a resolution for the project.
Finance Director Peter Anjewierden reviewed changes to the final budget and provided updates on Truth and Taxation numbers and procedures. The council indicated they were in favor of adding the proposed changes to the final budget for adoption.
The council also reviewed a strategic plan update provided by City Manager Matt Dixon. Key topics included fleet replacement, infrastructure, park improvements, and economic development discussions regarding the City Center Plan and Gateway Signs.
Additionally, a memorandum from Jory Wahlen of Wasatch Civil Consulting Engineering provided an update on the traffic signal project at 40th Street and Madison Avenue. The report noted that the project, intended to improve crossings for students walking due to discontinued busing, is facing delays due to utility coordination and right-of-way requirements. The project is expected to reach the procurement phase once design and right-of-way tasks are completed, with a contractor anticipated by the end of the year.
Public comments during the meeting included concerns from residents regarding work on 40th Street and traffic concerns. Mayor Pro Tem Mike Howard stated these concerns would be passed to city staff for review.
