The Utah Cultural Celebration Center is hosting the second annual Plein Air Riverfest in collaboration with several local art organizations. The event aims to encourage artists to spend creative time in nature while appreciating the Jordan River waterway that flows through the Salt Lake Valley and surrounding communities.
The festival is designed to be accessible to both seasoned and emerging artists working in any medium except photography and digital media. Participating artists can create works anywhere along the banks of the Jordan River. According to the event details, works must be at least 80% completed in the field.
An exhibit, sale, and awards celebration was scheduled for October 2 from 6-8pm at the Utah Cultural Celebration Center. The awards ceremony is expected to include refreshments, live music, and hundreds of dollars in recognition and awards. An exhibition and sale of the artworks will run from October 2 through October 14 during the center's normal business hours.
The event includes various artist categories and registration fees. Adult professional and semi-professional divisions and adult amateur divisions both require a $20 fee. The young adult division is $10, while the kids division is $5. West Valley City residents are eligible for discounted fees, which include $10 for adults and free entry for young adults and children.
The event is held in collaboration with the Intermountain Society of Artists, The Utah Watercolor Society, The Visual Art Institute, and the Get to the River Festival.
