The Salt Lake County Assessor’s Office has fully implemented all 20 recommendations from a previous audit of its payroll operations, according to a report published August 24, 2026.
This final follow-up report concludes the audit cycle for the original findings identified in June 2024.
The final review addressed the remaining six recommendations that were previously reported as in progress. Management implemented these final items, which included establishing written procedures for employee time approvals, overtime authorization, and securing county vehicle keys.
This completes the work of the Auditor’s Office, which has conducted two consecutive follow-up audits regarding this matter and will not conduct further reviews.
The audit was conducted in accordance with Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS). The Auditor’s Office monitors corrective actions to support continuous improvement across County agencies as authorized by Utah Code.
