A petition to annex multiple properties located in Uintah County, Utah, into Vernely City has been filed. The Vernal City Council has accepted the annexation petition for further consideration after receiving a Notice of Certification from the Vernal City Recorder on July 2, 2026.
The certification follows requirements set by Utah Code 10-2-808 (1)(a-c)(i).
The properties subject to the annexation petition include several parcels in Uintah County, specifically:
132 N 2500 West; Parcel No. 04126006150 N 2400 W; Parcel No. 041260064150 N 2500 W; Parcel No. 041260065100 S 2500 W; Parcel No. 041280012100 S 2500 W; Parcel No. 041280013100 S 2500 W; Parcel No. 041280014100 S 2500 W; and Parcel No. 04127001578 S 2000 W (Aggie Blvd).
Under Utah Code 10-2-810, specific entities may file written protests if they do not favor the annexation. This includes the governing board of an affected entity, owners of rural real property within the proposed annexation area, and owners of private real property located in a mining protection area.
Protests must be submitted by 5:00 pm on August 3, 2026. Written protests are required to state a reason for the protest and include the name and address of a contact person. Submissions must be sent to both the Uintah County Boundary Commission and the Vernal City Recorder.
If no written protests are received within the specified timeframe, the Vernal City Council may grant the request for annexation. Interested parties may view or copy the complete petition by contacting the Vernal City Recorder.
