The Summit County Weeds Division scheduled a Community Noxious Weeds Tour to educate residents regarding the most-wanted weeds in the county. The event was set to take place on Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 9 AM to 12 PM at the Richardson Flat Park & Ride.
The guided tour through the Basin was designed to provide an up-close look at noxious weeds impacting the local landscape. Summit County noxious weeds experts, including county staff and partners such as Swaner Preserve & EcoCenter, Basin Recreation, Summit CWMA, and the USU Extension Summit County Office, were scheduled to share methods for identifying and controlling invasive species on private properties.
Participants were encouraged to RSVP for the free event. While not required, the use of gloves was suggested for those attending.
The tour was intended to serve as a hands-on opportunity for residents to learn, connect with neighbors, and contribute to community-wide efforts to manage weeds that do not stop at property lines.
