Primary General President Rosemary K. Chibota told missionaries at the Provo Missionary Training Center on Tuesday, Aug. 18, that the Lord is deeply interested in who they become on their missions. Speaking at a devotional, she noted that difficult moments can refine missionaries into instruments the Lord can use to do His work effectively.
President Chibota identified four key ways for missionaries to stay connected to Jesus Christ every day: the Holy Ghost, prayer, scripture study, and the sacrament and covenant keeping. She described the Holy Ghost as the first and most essential source of power, explaining that it edifies, enlightens, and leads individuals to do good.
She further stated that prayer is a direct connection to God that invites power and aligns an individual's will with His. President Chibota also emphasized that the scriptures are how God speaks to His children and described the sacrament as a weekly spiritual recharge for renewing covenants and receiving forgiveness.
During her remarks, President Chibota shared that her own mission service in England was a life-changing experience. She noted that her husband, Joel B. Chibota, and she recently returned from leading the Alabama Birmingham Mission a year ago.
Using the analogy of a master potter, President Chibota explained how Jesus Christ shapes and refines His disciples. She encouraged missionaries to stay tuned to the Spirit through sincere prayer, daily study of the scriptures and Preach My Gospel, and by worthily partaking of the sacrament.
President Chibota, who began serving as Primary General President on Aug. 1 after being sustained in the April 2026 general conference, concluded by stating that staying connected to the Spirit allows missionaries to feel guided and see miracles.
