Children in Highland can participate in a reading event with a certified therapy dog on Wednesday, September 23, according to a September 18 statement from the city.
The event is scheduled from 4:00 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. Participants can read to Pepper, a puppy and certified therapy dog, who will be accompanied by her handler, Darci, from the Lone Peak Police Department.
The program is designed to help children improve their literacy and communication skills through reading to the animal. The event is intended for ages 5-17, though children under 9 must be accompanied by an adult.
