During a Study Session Board Meeting held on April 21, 2026, the Provo City School District Board of Education reviewed the current status of construction projects at Timpview High School. The presentation provided details regarding the nearly finished cafeteria, restored mechanical spaces, and ongoing excavation work in the performing arts area.
Work within the school cafeteria has transitioned from installation to the closeout phase. Westland reported that the space is essentially complete, with ceiling tiles, light fixtures, flooring, and a large east wall of glass already in place. The serving line is also nearing completion, featuring new countertops, kitchen equipment, and a layout designed to organize student movement through the point-of-sale area.
In the kitchen, crews are currently removing protective plastic from stainless-steel equipment and preparing for final cleaning and inspections. Additionally, the basement and mechanical space has been substantially restored following structural reinforcement work. The area now features an epoxied and painted concrete floor, an installed water softener, and completed mechanical pipe insulation.
The exterior of the cafeteria addition is also seeing progress, with completed roofing parapet cap work and the installation of exterior lights. Westland expects the cafeteria to reach substantial completion by May 13, 20 6. However, the district intends to keep the area sealed through the end of the current school year to allow for furniture delivery and testing without interrupting lunch operations. The space is expected to be ready for students next school year.
In the performing arts area, major site work is underway involving heavy excavation. Crews have begun digging footings for the auditorium and band/choral areas, and pier installation has commenced. A shotcrete wall was recently completed using a process of drilling anchors and soil nails to stabilize the ground and control water drainage.
Looking ahead, the project will continue with foundation, utility, plumbing, and subterranean masonry work. Following the school year, crews plan to replace and lower a fire line under the sidewalk. A masonry screen wall is also expected on the west side of the campus to help isolate the construction area. The contractor noted that major above-ground vertical construction may not be visible until approximately September.
