South Jordan residents may notice changes to their utility bills this month due to several annual updates taking effect each July. These updates can cause monthly amounts to increase or decrease based on usage and new city fees.
For customers enrolled in Budget Billing, monthly payments are recalculated every July. This recalculation is based on actual water usage from the previous 12 months. Monthly amounts may increase if a household used more water than the previous year or decrease if usage was lower. Budget Billing is designed to help eligible customers maintain a consistent monthly payment to avoid higher seasonal bills during the summer months.
As the South Jordan City fiscal year begins in July, rates for several utility services have been updated. These updates are part of the Fiscal Year 2026–2027 budget and are based on a rate study cost of service analysis. Residents will see increases in the following services due to rising costs: culinary water, secondary water, garbage collection, recycling, and the storm water system.
A new dedicated Parks Fee has also been added to South Jordan utility bills starting this fiscal year. The fee is intended to provide stable funding for the maintenance, repair, and replacement of aging infrastructure for parks, trails, playgrounds, and open spaces as the city grows. The monthly fee is $5.28 for single-family homes and $3.38 for multi-family homes.
