Plain City Elementary has welcomed Emily Mangum as its new principal, according to a notice on the school's website. Mangum brings a background in elementary education, literacy leadership, and administrative expertise to the school.
Mangum has a diverse professional background that includes teaching in Virginia and North Carolina. She earned a Master of Education degree from the University of North Carolina. After moving to the Ogden area in 2014, she joined the Weber School District. Her previous roles include teaching first, second, and third grades at Hooper Elementary, serving seven years as a Reading Specialist and Instructional Coach at Lomond View Elementary, and working as an administrative intern for the last two years.
Mangum expressed excitement about joining the Panther family and meeting the school community. She is described as a sports enthusiast who enjoys basketball and softball, and she supports BYU football and college basketball.
