The Natural History Museum of Utah will be closed all day on Tuesday, Sept. 1, to conduct annual staff training, according to a notice on the museum's website.
The museum, which is located in the Rio Tinto Center in the foothills above Salt Lake City, is the official museum of natural history for the state. The facility houses 163,000 square feet of exhibitions.
Operating hours for the museum are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week, with extended hours until 9 p.m. on Wednesdays. The last admission is permitted 30 minutes before closing.
The museum features twelve permanent exhibitions across four levels. A current special exhibition titled Bug World is open through September 7. This exhibition features large-scale models created by Weta Workshop.
The museum offers various programming, including public events like DinoFest and a lecture series. It also provides youth and family programming, such as summer camps and birthday parties for children aged 5 to 10.
The museum serves as a venue for private events, including weddings and social programs, utilizing its galleries and views of the valley.
