The Covey Center for the Arts is launching a new official web address, Covey.Provo.Gov, as part of a phased transition designed to better align the venue with Provo City policies, improve access to information, and strengthen the Center’s digital presence.
According to a September 2 statement, the change reflects the Center's role as a department of Provo City and establishes a clearer, more authoritative online identity.
Covey Center Executive Director Stephen Pullen stated that moving to a .gov address reinforces that the Center is an official Provo City entity and gives patrons greater confidence that they are receiving accurate information and purchasing tickets through authorized channels.
One challenge with the previous CoveyCenter.org domain was that patrons searching online for performances and tickets could encounter third-party ticket resellers and scalpers competing for top search engine visibility.
Because .gov domains are reserved exclusively for verified governmental entities, they are widely recognized as highly trustworthy sources of information. The new domain will help establish the Covey Center’s website as the definitive destination for event listings, classes, exhibitions, venue information, and ticketing resources.
The new web structure is designed to provide patrons with a clearer and more intuitive experience. The primary website, Covey.Provo.Gov, will serve as the authoritative source for information about the venue, including performances, classes, galleries, rentals, and community programs.
The Center's online ticketing platform, which is currently operating under the Covey.Provo.Gov address, will eventually move to its own dedicated site at Covey-Tickets.Provo.Gov. Separating the information website from the ticketing platform will create a simpler pathway for patrons seeking tickets while providing greater clarity between browsing and purchasing functions.
The migration to the new domain will occur gradually over a four-month transition period. Existing links and traffic will continue to be redirected throughout the transition to ensure uninterrupted access for patrons.
CoveyCenter.org will remain active during this period, with the complete phase-out scheduled for January 1, 2027. Patrons are encouraged to begin using Covey-Tickets.Provo.Gov immediately for purchasing tickets and to update bookmarks and saved links accordingly.
