The Iron County Board of Commissioners scheduled a public meeting for Sept. 14, 2026, at the Iron County Courthouse in Parowan, according to a meeting agenda published Sept. 11. The session was set to begin at 9:00 a.m. and included several public hearings regarding zoning changes and community development.
The agenda included three public hearings for proposed zone changes. One proposal involved changing 5.11 acres on Highway 56, west of 6900 W in Beryl, from commercial to residential 5-acre zoning. Another proposed change for 20.33 acres south of Midvalley Road and 4100 W in Cedar City involves moving from rural agriculture 20-acre to residential 1/2-acre zoning. A third hearing addressed changing 92.76 acres at 6800 W 200 S in Cedar City from agriculture 20-acre to industrial zoning.
Additional business scheduled for the meeting included the discussion of off-premises advertising signs in Summit, Utah, and an annual contract with the State of Utah for the Monument Replacement and Restoration Committee. The commission was also scheduled to discuss an agreement with Silver Rock Transmission LLC regarding easements for a high-voltage electrical transmission and communication line project.
The meeting agenda featured discussions on several other items, including an updated county precinct map due to the proposed incorporation of Coal Creek Town and a study proposal regarding solar development in Iron County. The commission was also slated to receive a presentation from the Southwest Mosquito Abatement District regarding the Iron County mosquito abatement program and West Nile Virus concerns.
Personnel matters on the agenda included several requests for new hires and promotions within the Sheriff’s Office, I.T., Assessor, and Auditor departments.
The public meeting was scheduled to be available for electronic participation via a YouTube channel. For accommodations, the notice stated that individuals should notify the Iron County Clerk at least three days prior to the meeting.
