A public hearing regarding proposed sewer rate and fee adjustments for the Bear Lake Special Service District has been rescheduled to October 15, 2026, according to a September 14 notice. The hearing, originally set for September 17, will focus on sewer rate changes and new provisions for manhole and facility access.
The Bear Lake Special Service District is considering adjustments to existing sewer rates and fees to ensure revenues are sufficient for the operation, maintenance, repair, replacement, and improvement of the wastewater collection and treatment system. These proposed adjustments are based on current and anticipated needs as well as a sewer rate study conducted for the District by the Rural Water Association of Utah.
Additionally, the District is considering provisions to ensure sewer manholes and other facilities remain visible and accessible for inspection, maintenance, repair, and emergency response. Property owners with buried, covered, or otherwise obstructed District facilities may be notified and given a reasonable opportunity to restore access. Any fines or costs related to violations would be subject to applicable law and District policies.
The public hearing is scheduled for Thursday, October 15, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at 147 West Logan Road in Garden City, Utah. The District's regularly scheduled Board meeting will begin at 4:00 p.m. that day. Individual public comments may be limited to two minutes per person. Written comments may be submitted in advance to the District at 147 West Logan Road, Garden City, Utah 84028.
