Firefighters are battling a wildfire in Logan Canyon near Temple Fork. U.S. Highway 89 remains closed from the canyon mouth to the Rich County line, and nearby campers are being evacuated. Drivers are advised to take alternate routes.
The Logan City Police closed Highway 89 on the Cache and Rich County sides at 6:58 p.m. Sunday. Early reports indicated that approximately five acres had burned near Blind Hollow when firefighters arrived.
The USU Utah Women & Leadership Project released a policy brief regarding higher education. The report, which was based on a statewide survey of more than 5,200 residents, stated that higher education improves community well-being by boosting awareness in areas such as family, health, and civic engagement.
Residents have reported sightings of bears, foxes, coyotes, and mountain lions in residential areas. These sightings are attributed to drought and wildfires pushing wildlife into unexpected locations, a change for Logan. Sightings may continue until weather conditions improve.
