The Provo City Library has introduced the September ProvoREADS theme, Discover Your Reading Path, to encourage students to explore books, topics, and stories that spark curiosity, according to a September 9 report.
The initiative encourages families to help children find their reading paths by visiting school or public libraries, trying new genres, and allowing children the freedom to choose books that interest them. The Provo City Library suggests that browsing new sections, asking librarians for recommendations, or obtaining a library card can help make reading a regular family activity.
In addition to the September theme, the Utah Reads Statewide Read-A-Thon is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 2, 2026. Governor Spencer Cox and First Lady Abby Cox will participate in the event, which is intended to celebrate literacy across the state.
Students and employees within the Provo City School District are scheduled to participate in the statewide read-a-thon from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 2, 2026. Families and community members are encouraged to join the event by contacting their local schools for specific participation details.
