The ProvoREADS campaign is encouraging students to explore new books, topics, and stories through its September theme, Discover Your Reading Path, according to a report published September 9.
The campaign aims to help children find books they enjoy to foster a sense of excitement toward reading. To support this, the September Family Reading Challenge encourages families to visit a school or public library together.
While visiting a library, families are encouraged to explore new sections, ask librarians for recommendations, try new authors or genres, and obtain library cards to make reading a regular activity.
The reading efforts will continue into October with the Utah Reads Statewide Read-A-Thon. Scheduled for Friday, Oct. 2, 2026, the event features Governor Spencer Cox and First Lady Abby Cox.
Provo City School District students and employees are set to participate from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., joining readers throughout Utah for one hour dedicated to literacy.
Families and community members are encouraged to participate in the statewide event. Details regarding specific school participation can be obtained by contacting local schools.
