The ProvoREADS initiative has announced its September theme, Discover Your Reading Path, to encourage students to explore books, topics, and stories that spark curiosity, according to a September 9 report.
The theme aims to help students find books they enjoy so that reading becomes something they look forward to rather than just an assignment.
As part of the September Family Reading Challenge, families are encouraged to visit a school or public library together. The challenge suggests that children be given time to browse and select books that catch their attention.
Suggestions for library visits include exploring new sections, asking librarians for recommendations, trying new authors or genres, and obtaining library cards to make reading a regular family activity.
The reading initiative continues into October with the Utah Reads Statewide Read-A-Thon. Scheduled for Friday, Oct. 2, 2026, the event features Governor Spencer Cox and First Lady Abby Cox.
Students and employees within the Provo City School District are scheduled to participate from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., joining readers across Utah for an hour dedicated to literacy.
Families and community members are encouraged to participate in the excitement. Details regarding specific school participation can be obtained by reaching out to individual schools.
