The Farmington Fire Department has announced that fireworks in Farmington should be considered restricted following the Governor's issuance of temporary statewide fireworks restrictions. These measures were introduced in response to extreme wildfire conditions across Utah.
New statewide fire restrictions
As part of this announcement, the State of Utah will transition into Stage 2 Fire Restrictions starting Saturday at 12:00 a.m. These restrictions aim to decrease preventable fire starts during periods of high-risk wildfire conditions.
Evaluating local impacts and safety
The Farmington Fire Department is currently meeting with Farmington City leaders to evaluate state guidance, local impacts, and future steps. Officials stated they are working diligently to ensure a safe Fourth of July for the community while protecting lives, property, and open spaces from preventable fires.
Guidelines for fireworks use
Residents are advised to review Farmington's fireworks restriction map prior to purchasing or discharging any fireworks. The department noted that fireworks are prohibited in restricted areas, near dry vegetation, or in any location where discharge is otherwise forbidden.
