A 25-year-old man from Salt Lake City was killed Thursday afternoon after his van crashed into the back of a semi-truck on Interstate 84 in Gooding County.
Idaho State Police reported that the crash occurred around 4:45 p.m. on westbound I-84 near milepost 150.8, located west of Wendell.
The man was driving a 2001 Dodge van when he rear-ended a 2018 Utility trailer being pulled by a 2020 Freightliner semi. The driver of the van died at the scene from his injuries.
The 64-year-old driver of the semi, who is from Mount Judea, Arkansas, was not injured in the collision.
The right lane of I-84 was blocked for approximately two hours while emergency crews worked to clear the scene. The Gooding County Sheriff's Office and Wendell Fire Department assisted Idaho State Police. The crash remains under investigation.
