Box Elder holds off Roy for 28-19 Region 5 win

Box Elder High football scored 15 points on its first five plays and held off a spirited Roy comeback bid for a 28-19 region home win on Thursday, Sept. 4, 2026.

Judd Howells scored on a 4-yard run during the fourth offensive play to give Box Elder an early 7-0 lead. Following a Roy punt, Kaydn Reyes completed a 62-yard touchdown pass to Josh Pugsley. A successful two-point conversion extended the Box Elder lead to 15-0.

Roy responded with a 4-yard rushing touchdown from Howie Howard. After a goal-line stand by the Royals, Tytan Hupp converted a 20-yard field goal as the first half expired, leaving Box Elder with an 18-7 halftime advantage.

In the third quarter, Gunner Pearson connected with Juju Teran for a 44-yard touchdown pass, bringing the Bees to an 18-13 lead after a failed two-point attempt. Hupp later added a 26-yard field goal. Following a Roy punt from their own end zone, Cammon Bushnell caught a 36-yard touchdown pass from Reyes with 8 seconds remaining in the quarter, extending the lead to 28-13.

Roy recovered a Reyes fumble and converted the turnover via a 19-yard touchdown pass from Pearson to Tyler Dickson, but an unsuccessful two-point attempt resulted in a final score of 28-19.

With the win, Box Elder moved to 5-0 overall and 2-0 in Region 5, while Roy moved to 1-4 overall and 0-2 in the region.
