Fresh Utah produce remains available as the fall season approaches, according to a September 10 report by City Cast Salt Lake. While summer favorites may be fading, late September and early October are noted as some of the best times to shop for locally grown items.
The transition into cooler temperatures introduces a variety of seasonal produce. Available items include apples, pears, and autumn raspberries, alongside late-season tomatoes and peppers. Other seasonal offerings include sweet corn, broccoli, Swiss chard, and various root vegetables such as potatoes, beets, carrots, and radishes. The season also features winter squash, including butternut, delicata, and spaghetti squash, as well as pumpkins and other fall gourds.
Several farmers markets in the region continue their operations into the fall:
The 9th West Farmers Market is open on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Oct. 11.
The Bountiful Farmers Market operates on Thursdays from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Bountiful Town Square. The 2026 market runs through Oct. 15 and accepts SNAP/EBT, including Double Up Food Bucks Utah and Produce Rx.
The Daybreak Farmers Market is open on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. through Oct. 17.
The Downtown Farmers Market is open on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and continues its fall season through Oct. 24, with a winter market scheduled to return Nov. 15 at 209 E. 500 South.
The Millcreek Farmers Market is open on Fridays from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. through Oct. 30.
Shopping at these markets allows residents to support local growers while consuming produce that is currently in season.
