Iron County School District administrators are meeting with staff to discuss frequently asked questions regarding a potential transition to a four-day school week for the 2027-28 school year, according to a September 17 report.
Superintendent Dr. Lance Hatch informed board members that all discussions concerning the four-day school week are currently in draft form. Hatch stated he intends to seek feedback from the board as the discussions continue moving forward.
District administrative team members recently held a video call with administrators from a school district in Independence, Mo. While that district is slightly larger than Iron County School District, it has reportedly implemented a four-day school week without negatively impacting academic performance, with student learning outcomes showing improvement.
