Nibley City released a report on August 26 outlining details for the design and development of Phase 1 of the 1200 West City Park-East. The document provides clarifications regarding the scope, budgeting, and planning requirements for the project.
The project for Phase 1 involves approximately 7.6 acres of space. This includes roughly 6 acres outlined in the Nibley Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Master Plan, along with an additional 1.6 acres located just north of the master planned area. The selected consultant must provide at least three concept plans and a phasing plan for the 7.6 acres based on factors such as available budget and grant opportunities. The consultant is also expected to make recommendations on how future phases of the 1200 West City Park will physically connect, specifically regarding how users can safely cross 1200 West.
The City has budgeted $25,000 to develop concept plans for this phase. Additionally, the City Council has preliminarily budgeted $1 million for the design and construction of Phase 1 of the 1200 West City Park-East. While the Nibley Parks and Recreation Master Plan includes restrooms for the park, the specific design will be finalized through collaboration between the consultant, city staff, the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee, City Council, and other stakeholders.
The development process involves referencing the Master Plan, Fall USU LAEP student concept plans, and notes collected by staff to finalize a concept for design and construction.
