The Cache County Sheriff's Office has issued a scam alert after receiving numerous reports from residents regarding fraudulent phone calls. Individuals are reportedly calling residents while pretending to represent the Sheriff's Office.
According to the sheriff's office, scammers are demanding payment from victims by claiming that an arrest will occur if a warrant is not resolved through payment. The agency stated that these calls are not from the Cache County Sheriff's Office.
Officials advised the public never to provide personal information, credit card numbers, pre-paid card information, or money to such callers. The Sheriff's Office clarified that they will never request payment over the phone for a warrant and will never ask for gift cards as payment to resolve obligations.
Anyone who receives a suspicious phone call or wishes to verify if they have an active warrant should contact the Cache County Sheriff's Office at (435) 755-1000.
