Rock Canyon Elementary School is preparing for the final six weeks of the academic year with a schedule filled with learning, celebrations, and special events. Following Spring Break, the school community is looking forward to several key traditions and upcoming activities.
The Rock Canyon Fun Run is scheduled for Friday, May 1, 2026, at 9:30 AM. This school tradition relies on the support of the PTA, and volunteers are needed to assist with the event. Interested individuals can sign up to volunteer using a provided Google Sheets link.
Additionally, Rock Canyon Elementary Art Night will take place on Thursday, May 7, from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM. The event is designed to celebrate student creativity across all grade levels, allowing families to view artwork together.
The school also issued reminders regarding campus safety and conduct. Students recently participated in a cafeteria reset to review behavior expectations, which include using appropriate voice levels, staying seated while eating, and cleaning up areas before leaving.
Regarding bike safety, the school reminded parents that bikes may not be ridden on school property. Students are expected to walk their bikes once they enter school grounds to avoid disrupting others on the sidewalks, particularly near the playground area.
An upcoming Kindergarten Open House will be held in the school library from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Friday. The event is for incoming kindergarten students and their families, featuring a visit to the school and a free book for attendees.
Principal Karen Brock noted that Rock Canyon Elementary is currently ranked 65th out of more than 1,000 elementary schools in Utah and maintains some of the highest reading scores in the district.
