Brian Head Town has announced the cancellation of its 4th of July fireworks show. The decision was made in response to current and forecasted fire conditions and follows Governor Cox's recent declaration of a State of Emergency on Fireworks.
Reason for fireworks cancellation
The cancellation comes during the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. According to Brian Head Town, officials are being conscientious of the risks associated with fireworks, citing recent tragedies and losses experienced by neighbors in Iron County, Beaver County, and other parts of Utah.
Official statement from safety director
By order of the Brian Head Public Safety Director, Chief Dan Benson, the town expressed understanding that this news may be disappointing to many.
Plans for alternative celebrations
The town is currently exploring alternative celebrations for the evening of July 4th to allow the community to celebrate America 250. Residents are encouraged to stay tuned for updates and to enjoy other available activities in Brian Head.
