The Wasatch Open Lands Board is scheduled to hold a meeting on Monday, Oct. 19, 2026, at 6:30 PM in the Wasatch County Administration Building Lower Conference Room. According to an Oct. 15 notice, the meeting will take place at 25 North Main in Heber City, Utah, and will be available for public participation in person or via Zoom.
The upcoming agenda includes an update on Utah Open Lands Conservation Easement Projects from Wendy Fisher. The board will also conduct a discussion and review of Wasatch County Code 3.06 and address Notice of Interest applications. Additionally, the meeting will feature updates from the Wasatch County Council, Midway City, and Heber City regarding preservation efforts and open space bond funding.
The board previously met on Sept. 14, 2026, where Wendy Fisher reported that a $2M match from a private donor would be allocated toward land conservation in Wasatch County. Fisher noted that Utah Open Lands is currently $700k away from obtaining that match. During that meeting, the board also discussed the Christen Mitchell conservation easement along River Road, which is nearing finalization.
In discussions regarding local preservation, Councilmember Erik Rowland expressed a commitment to organizing a community event in early October to promote the north fields. In Heber City, the board noted that Muirfield Park received approval from the Army Corps of Engineers for bridge installations, though the pond cannot be dugout. Additionally, Heber City is drafting a conservation easements code to establish procedures for utilizing easement funds.
The public is invited to participate in the meeting and may submit comments or questions via email to Openlands@wasatchcounty.gov prior to 5:00 PM on the day before the meeting. Individuals requiring special accommodations should notify the Manager's Office at 435-657-3180 at least one day before the meeting.
