Kyle Bates, Director of Building Services for Provo City School District, has received the Provo Way Award for his work maintaining campus safety and operations.
Bates and his team operate behind the scenes to ensure school campuses run smoothly, frequently addressing maintenance needs before they are widely noticed.
During the past year, Bates helped oversee significant improvements at Amelia Earhart Elementary. These projects included the installation of a new roof and fencing, a larger play area for kindergarten students, and resurfaced blacktop.
Amelia Earhart Elementary Principal Patricia Blanton nominated Bates for the award, noting his consistent presence when school needs arise. Blanton joked that she is convinced he must secretly live on school property because he responds to every request.
Bates has assisted with tasks ranging from installing new gates and managing traffic flow with cones to helping implement various school improvements.
The work performed by Bates contributes to making campuses safer and more welcoming environments for both students and staff.
