An elderly Utah man died following a vehicle crash near Austin, according to a report published August 18. The incident occurred on State Route 305 in Lander County.
The crash happened just after 2:00 p.m. on Monday, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol. An initial investigation revealed that a Toyota Tundra was traveling southbound when it drove off the roadway and into the right dirt shoulder.
After the driver steered to the left, the truck rotated counterclockwise and re-entered the southbound lanes. The driver then steered left again, causing the truck to enter a broadside skid across the northbound lanes. The vehicle eventually overturned and came to rest on its left side.
The driver of the truck was identified as 72-year-old Michael McCormak of Moab, Utah. He was declared dead at the scene.
