Julianna, a fourth-grade student, was honored as the Student Provo Way Award Winner at this week’s Board Meeting. The recognition highlights her remarkable progress in reading and her proactive approach to learning.
The award follows Julianna's significant achievement in reading development over a five-month period. After seeking ways to move from skill groups into book club, she worked toward a specific goal of reading 115 words per minute twice in a row.
Through focus and practice, Julianna increased her reading speed from 62 to 144 words correct per minute with 99% accuracy. This progress has allowed her to earn a spot in the book club.
Beyond academic growth, Julianna is recognized for her character within the classroom. She serves as a helper to her classmates and provides support to multilingual learners through patience and kindness.
In addition to reading, Julianna is showing growth in math by actively seeking teacher feedback to master new skills and taking charge of her own learning process.
