Utah Tech University is increasing scholarship awards and introducing a new scholarship opportunity for incoming Utah freshmen to make higher education more accessible, according to an October 27 statement from the St. George Chamber of Commerce. The university, which currently holds the most affordable university tuition in the state, intends to help more students view a college education as an achievable goal.
Students admitted for the Summer or Fall 2027 semesters qualify for increased Utah Resident Freshmen Scholarships. The Presidential Scholarship continues to cover full base tuition, while the Chancellors Scholarship is now valued at $3,700 per year. Other awards include the Trustees Scholarship at $2,700, the Deans Scholarship at $1,750, and the Merit Scholarship at $1,250. All four of these scholarships are renewable until a student reaches 130 overall attempted credits. The Presidential and Chancellors scholarships are determined by a combination of GPA and ACT composite scores, whereas the others are based on GPA alone.
A new Trailbreaker CE Scholarship has been created for incoming freshmen who complete 12 or more credits through Utah Tech with a GPA of 2.0 or higher. This scholarship awards $500 per year and is renewable for up to four years. It can be stacked with other academic scholarships, with the exception of the Presidential Scholarship. Qualified entering CE students are automatically considered for this scholarship through June 1.
The Red Cliffs Community Scholarship remains available to high school seniors in Washington and Kane counties who maintain a high school GPA of 2.0 or higher. This scholarship is valued at $1,000 for one year. Dr. Brian Sandusky, vice president of enrollment and marketing at Utah Tech, stated that the university is committed to providing an affordable, high-quality polytechnic education through active learning.
Dr. Brian Sandusky noted that the university's hands-on approach to learning is designed to prepare graduates to meet workforce demands and ensure the community thrives. Incoming freshmen admitted to Utah Tech before March 1 are automatically considered for institutional scholarships.
