Javen Jacobs, a graduate tailback for Utah State, was named to the Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year Award Watch List, according to a September 10 report.
This award is the first college football honor that focuses primarily on a player's leadership both on and off the field.
Jacobs is the only representative from a Utah school to be included on the watch list.
His community involvement in Cache Valley includes participation in Thursday Hero: Honoring Local Heroes, an elementary pen pal program led by Aggies, a financial literacy workshop with Renaissance Financial, and Family Fun Day community engagement initiatives. He also participates in USU Football Service & Development programming, Easter Service projects, food insecurity and backpack support initiatives, and leadership, wellness, and student-athlete development programming.
In a game last Saturday, which resulted in a 29-17 loss to Idaho State, Jacobs recorded 80 yards on 20 carries. Jacobs and his Utah State teammates were scheduled to play nationally-ranked Washington on Saturday for their second game of the season.
