The results of the National Political Committee elections at the 202¥ DSA National Convention have been announced, revealing the new leadership for the organization.
The election process consisted of two distinct stages. On Friday, August 8th, the convention held the NPC Co-Chair election for two seats. The following evening, Saturday, August 9th, the election for the At-Large NPC seats took place to fill 14 positions.
The newly announced National Co-Chairs are Ashik Siddique and Megan Romer. Additionally, Daniel Salup-Cid and Sara Almosawi were elected as YDSA Co-Chairs.
A constitutional amendment proposed by the Democracy Commission (DemCom) was passed during the convention. This change increases the number of NPC seats to 25. Following the approval of this increase, 23 seats remained to be filled after the initial Co-Chair election was completed.
The election utilized the Scottish Single Transferable Vote method. According to the DSA Constitution, the committee must maintain specific diversity requirements, ensuring no more than eight members are cisgender men and at least five seats are reserved for people of color.
Members of the new NPC include Abdullah Farooq, Ahmed Husain, Amy Wilhelm, Andrew Thompson, Cara Tobe, Cerena Ermitanio, Christian Araos, Clayton Ryles, Cliff Connolly, David Jenkins, Eleanor Babaev, Ella Teevan, Frances Gill, Francesca Maria, Hayley Banyai-Becker, Hazel Williams, Jeremy Cohan, John Lewis, Kareem Elrefai, Katie Sims, Luisa Martínez, Sarah Milner, and Sidney Carlson White.
The nomination process for the committee began on April 25, 2025. Candidates were required to submit questionnaires and video statements by specific deadlines in June and July. To be eligible, nominees required a majority vote from their chapter, an organ, or a national working group.
