Log Haven Restaurant in Millcreek Canyon underwent a change in ownership as Brandon Hargett, Flynn Paulson, and Teri Paulson took over the iconic Salt Lake Valley eatery. The transition followed Margo Provost's 32-year tenure, having purchased the restaurant in 1994.
As part of the transition, General Manager Ian Campbell and Executive Chef Dave Jones were bought out, though both remained involved to provide mentorship and continuity for the restaurant.
The new ownership group brought a combination of hospitality, operations, and business stewardship experience to the establishment. Brandon Hargett, described as a veteran restaurateur, took on day-to-day leadership responsibilities.
Flynn and Teri Paulson focused on supporting the business through operational support, governance, and financial systems. Faith Scheffler also remained with Log Haven as a minority partner.
Margo Provost stated in a release that she was grateful to her staff and community for helping sustain the restaurant and its surrounding land during her ownership. She expressed excitement regarding passing the torch to owners committed to the legacy of the location.
Brandon Hargett stated that the purchase represented a responsibility to a legacy, noting the importance of protecting the intersection of food, land, history, and community at Log Haven. He expressed a commitment to investing in the future of the restaurant.
Faith Scheffler noted that the influence of Margo Provost, Ian Campbell, and Dave Jones provided a foundation that allowed the restaurant to move forward with integrity.
