Provo City School District has released its summer newsletter detailing academic successes, upcoming registration support nights, and the 2026-2027 school year calendar. The publication highlights significant growth in student achievement across various elementary, middle, and high schools within the district.
Districtwide Academic Achievements
Superintendent Wendy J. Dau reported several districtwide accomplishments, including the highest increase in students earning college credit through Concurrent Enrollment at high schools and MTEC, as well as passing Advanced Placement exams. The district's communications team also received national recognition for an attendance campaign that led to significant increases in student attendance.
Individual School Successes
Individual school highlights include math growth at Amelia Earhart Elementary, reading proficiency gains at Rock Canyon Elementary, and science proficiency increases at Provo High. Additionally, the district noted that 214 Career and Technical Education pathways were completed by students this year, providing hands-on learning in fields such as healthcare, engineering, and technology.
Budget Challenges and Future Plans
Board President Jennifer Partridge addressed ongoing challenges facing the district, noting that the Board of Education has implemented over $2 million in budget cuts due to declining enrollment. Future discussions will focus on the Dual Language Immersion program and creating a policy for potential school consolidations.
Upcoming Registration Support Nights
To assist families, the district is hosting school registration support nights at the District Office PDC located at 280 W 940 N. These sessions will take place from 3:00-6:00 PM on July 30, August 6, and August 13. Parents are advised to bring proof of student age, immunization records, proof of address, and a photo ID.
2026-2027 School Year Calendar
The 2026-2027 school year is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, with Kindergarten beginning on August 26. The district continues to use tools such as School Messenger, PowerSchool, and weekly videocasts to maintain communication with the Provo community.
