The Utah WISE Initiative has released a 10-year plan on aging designed to guide efforts to improve aging in the state. According to the Utah Department of Aging and Adult Services, the final plan incorporates feedback from hundreds of Utahns, including aging service providers, researchers, and engaged citizens.
The initiative, which Governor Spencer Cox is focusing on this term, centers on four pillars of aging well: Wealth, Independence, Security, and Engagement. Following a statewide listening tour, four workgroups began meeting in September 2025 to discuss strategies and recommendations for each pillar. These workgroups used input from listening sessions and online forms to develop recommendations that informed the draft of the 10-year statewide multi-sector plan.
Implementation groups for the initiative are expected to take shape throughout the fall. During the winter and spring, work is scheduled to begin on defining measurable outcomes and clear project plans.
