Lakeview is beginning RISE testing this week. Dr. Davis-LeLEite stated that while testing can cause complicated feelings, the goal is to encourage students to focus on growth as discussed in a recent assembly.
Dr. Davis-Leite noted that assessment serves as a crucial part of instruction and that educators will use the resulting data for professional learning and growth.
To reduce student anxiety, the school has implemented a definitive schedule for testing. All RISE testing will take place on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
For grades 3-6, English Language Arts testing is scheduled for April 21, 22, and 23. Math testing for grades 3-6 will occur on April 28, 29, and 30. Science testing for grades 4-6 is set for May 5, 6, and 7.
Make-up testing is scheduled for Fridays and the week of May 11-15. During these testing days, every class will test from 9:00 to 9:45 am with reduced interruptions. The school will provide food and snacks before testing, followed by extra recess and activities as a celebration.
The school has requested parental assistance to ensure students are prepared. Parents are asked to verify that children get enough sleep and eat breakfast before testing. Additionally, parents should ensure students arrive on time for the 9:00 am start and avoid checking students out or entering the school between 9:00 and 9:45 am.
To mark the start of each testing week, the school is hosting Dress for Success days. April 21 will feature Sunday Best, April 28 will be Business Dress, and May 5 will feature Lakeview shirts and colors.
Students in Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grades are also invited to participate in their own grade-level testing and celebrations.
